Students often ask how they can edit images at home if they don’t have Photoshop. I usually have recommended GIMP, which I have used with success and find quite intuitive. I have also seen books on using GIMP and I like some of its features. But I saw a great post recently about “Free Online Tools for Images and Graphic Design,” which seems like the inevitable next step. The following could be used for anything from editing photos on the fly to creating a header graphic for your site:

I am thinking about using WordPress as a blogging platform for the Rutgers Writing Program. I have experience with Blogger, which I use for my blog “The Kenilworthian.” But my impression is that WordPress is the “hot” platform among academics. Blogger is just “too popular,” I suppose.

I have also been thinking of starting up a personal blog and there is no time like the present. So here we go…
